Vanessa Mirro

Vanessa has worked as a staff member with the project since 1996. She completed her Master's degree at Colorado State University in 2002 with a concentration in Bioarchaeology. Her thesis research involved the analyses of the skeletal remains in Barton Creek Cave as part of an investigation of the mortuary practices and demographic profiles of Lowland Maya cave interments. In particular, she is interested in the practice of human sacrifice throughout Mesoamerica. She has conducted archaeological investigations throughout Canada, the United States and Belize and is currently working in California as a field supervisor in cultural resource management.
